O.k.
Well here it goes. I used to be a real skeptic who always thought those people who saw U.F.O's where nuts. I became a true believer in Unidentified Flying Objects when I had the opportunity to not only have ONE incident turn me around but SEVERAL.

It all started when I was about 6 years old. There are huge gas tanks in a section of the city that my Grandmother lives in that we drive past to get to and from my Grandmothers house. On a visit to there one day my mother claimed to see 2 brightly glowing orbs hovering next to these tanks. My father was driving and could not see these orbs from his position. I was sleeping in the back seat and myself did not witness them either, but my mother for years recounted this same story to me and whoever else would listen. Not only did I think she was loony...but I was embarrassed that she would keep up with this humiliating story for years. Until one particular day I visited my Grandmother's 8 years later.

I was 14 years old that year. My father was driving me and my brother home from a visit, my mother stayed home so she was not present and I was sitting in the passenger seat of our van. The sun was going down as we were headed down the highway when we came past the gas tanks. I remembered my mother's fabled story and turned to look up at the tanks when to my surprise hovering above the first tank was a huge round orb. I quickly looked away feeling as though I might be hallucinating. I couldn't POSSIBLY be seeing and orb at the same location as my mother did years ago! It was about the same size as a dime if I were to have held one up to the window of the car. The light that emanated from it was indescribable. It burned with an intense and completely white light, almost like looking at the moon except it was flawless and brighter. It seemed to be traveling right next to our van! As the van moved farther away from the gas tanks it seemed to keep pace with our speed (approx. 75 mph). I looked at my father to see if he was seeing what I saw when I realized that he couldn't look over to my side and up to the sky without crashing the car. Unsure of what I was really looking at I was reluctant to say anything in the first place. That's when I saw the SECOND bright light! The second was in the shape of a slightly elongated football! It too burned with the same intensity. Only this object seemed to remain idle. It didn't seem to be moving like the first, just hovering in it's place on the opposite side of the highway. Looking from one to the other I couldn't decide where my mind was! The object on my right started gaining speed and as it did the light seemed to get smaller. Almost light a light gradually fading. I asked my father if he could see what I saw. HE looked up with an astonished expression then adamantly replied "I don't see a thing"! He kept his eyes on that gradually shrinking spot though! When the orb was about the size of a star it seemed to just wink out, when I looked to my left the second light was still there, then it vanished! Not a blink, not a shutter, nothing. Just gone. When I got home I reluctantly went to my mother to tell her my story. I felt like a nutcase. Apparently my father who "didn't see a thing" had already mentioned something to her about our drive home (although he would never admit this to this day). She listened to me without comment and when I was finished said simply "I told you to keep and eye on those tanks"!

Having to come full circle and realize what I saw was none of the rational explanations that I would normally give other U.F.O enthusiasts was pretty difficult. Not only because I knew people would have a hard time believing me, but because I had a hard time believing myself! So for a couple of years I hardly mentioned my sighting except to those few who themselves shared their stories. Which leads to my second and most remarkable sighting.

I was now 18 years old the summer of '92. My family owns a summer home up in the Catskill mountains and were enjoying a peaceful Labor-Day weekend in the country. I had a boyfriend named Fred at the time and he came was there, along with my younger cousin Steven. Now to reference how this happened you have to know our house is situated between two mountains. So we are in the middle of a valley. One mountain is in front of us, the other behind. Everyone turned in for the night so we decided to stick around by the campfire and just do nothing with ourselves. It had to be about 3 O'clock in the morning. The three of us where laid out on the ground staring up at the amazing amount of stars in the night sky. We were quiet, each lost in our own thoughts. I looked over to the East and saw what I thought was a really bright star way up in the sky. At the same time I noticed it Steven said "Hey, look at how bright that start just got!" "I was just going to say the same thing!" Fred remarked. Now this "star" had our full attention. Steven jokingly says "Hey, imagine we see a U.F.O! Nobody would believe us!" And nervously we all begin to chuckle. That's when it happened. This "star" slowly started to move west. The "star" moved from the farthest point East to the point of the mountain top in front of us. There it just stopped. I don't know what you could call our reaction to what we were seeing. "I know I am not the ONLY one seeing this...right?" I asked. "Maybe it's a plane?" replied Steven. (Here goes the old rationalizing again!) As if in answer to his question this "star" suddenly split into three pieces! It seemed to break apart and form a perfect triangle formation in the sky! The point of the triangle shot straight up, stopped, then shot downward where it disappeared behind the mountain! It seemed that at the same time the point on the right shot with a lightening speed across the sky and out of sight! With the other points gone the third point shot moved Eastward, suddenly stopped then shot at an acute angle back in the other direction! All this in a matter of seconds! Before we could even comment on what we were seeing they were gone.

We never doubted what we saw that night. I did not feel like a nut anymore. We three knew that we would never have to worry about being believed because we saw it together and we can all recount this story word for word as it happened. So I no longer had a problem telling the non-believers about what I experienced. Re-telling the same experience to certain friends and my new fiancé was what lead to my third and since last sighting.

On a double date my fiancé Brian and I got into a conversation about U.F.O's. To my relief the couple we were having the conversation with Noel and Lissette believed them too. They thought they saw one but could not be sure. After telling them about my two encounters we decided it would be nice to plan a weekend getaway. Believe it or not we wanted them to see the stars! Us being from the city we never get to see any stars through the smog! So we made arrangements to stay at my family's house in the Catskill mountains. The very first night at the house out on the back patio I was explaining to Brian, Noel and Lissette exactly how I saw the star break apart, and shoot into different directions. Looking up, Noel spotted a bright star. As he commented on it, it too started to move! Slowly at first then it shot straight across the sky where it stopped suddenly, then went in the opposite direction without changing it's course! We got to see several of these happen throughout the course of that first night. The rest of our weekend the skies were empty...except for the stars.

Today I don't have a problem with telling people that we are not alone in this universe. I no longer have a problem telling people that I have seen U.F.O's. Actually, I kind of feel sorry for those who haven't had the chance to see one, because I got to see them on three different occasions.

I swear that the events documented in this article are true to the best of my own memory.
