It was late and I was tired. The night was moonless and I did not see the truck sitting in the middle of the road ahead. I was going about 50 MPH at the time, and when we saw the 18 wheeler with it's lights off, and dirty back side we were less than 20 feet away. I jerked the steering wheel to the right to at least try and get Donna out of the impact zone. There was a ditch to the right, and I was too close and closing to fast to swerve into it. I saw us close with the truck and closed my eyes and braced for the impact.
It never came. A second later I looked up and was on the road IN FRONT OF THE TRUCK! I looked in the rear view mirror, and there it was behind us, blocking the road with no way around. Donna exclaimed "what happened", but I didn't feel like talking about it at the time. I still don't know if we went though the truck, or some unseen hand placed us in front of it, but I know that what happened, whatever it was, should have been impossible. We both consider it a miracle we are still here.
